Project 1 - Planning Photographs

 

1 - What will my 3 photographs be?

1. My first photograph will be the subject playing a base or an electric guitar. The guitar is representing the American aspect of my task, rock and roll. It will be taken with the intentions of having everything in frame, documentation photography, much like Diane Arbus. Finally, the colour brown will be present because the photograph will be sepia toned. On the right is a sketch that is somewhat like the photograph I plan to take.

2. My second photograph will be the subject drinking out of a Starbucks cup. Especially on social media, the Starbucks cup has become a very iconic American image, although Starbucks can now be found all around the world. Again, I am simply photographing something for the purposes of documentation in a monochrome fashion much like Diane Arbus. This photograph will also be sepia toned, so brown will be present.

3. My third and final photograph will be the subject eating a burger. The photograph will be an extreme closeup. Whilst the photograph itself and the fact that it does not fit everything in frame is not typical of Diane Arbus, the subjects I am documenting is. It could easily be viewed as a political statement about fast food, and interestingly, fast food is something people tend to frown upon, yet practically everybody consumes it, so I think it is quite a good subject to photograph. Not to mention the Big Mac is closely associated with America, and I will once again be using sepia.
