Project 2 - My Photographer Research

My Photographer Research

For my photographer research, I looked into a photographer for each subculture I'm interested in pursuing. This meant one for music culture, one for skateboarding culture and one for drinking culture. I have attached a preview below, although the powerpoint layout works more efficiently when downloaded by the button below.

Overall, since writing about 'My 3 Ideas' and choosing one, I have determined that the photographers most relevant to my work are J. Grant Brittain, and Claudio Montegriffo.

Brittain is relevant because he predominantly photographs skateboarders, so his work gives interesting perspective on how I could potentially photograph skateboarders.

Montegriffo, on the other hand is relevant because I really like his style of abstract photography and his use of shadows. If I can implement a similar style into my work, I will.

Maciej Dakowikz and Shirley Baker are no longer relevant to my work because the themes of alcohol and punks have both been ruled out, and they are both documentary style photographers, so their style is not of interest either.
