Project 1 - Behind the photographs

The Guitarist -

Originally, this photograph was going to be taken in high Burton on Thursday 14th January 2021 starting at 2pm. I was going to photograph Oliver and his base guitar. However, due to a large unexpected snowfall, I was unable to get up to high Burton to do the shoot. Instead, I photographed my younger brother, who has an electric guitar, outside my house on Thursday evening, using a singular fluorescent light to create the harsh lighting often seen in Arbuses' work.

Starbucks -

This photograph was taken in Huddersfield town centre on Friday 15th January 2021 starting at 1pm. As a model, I was going to use Eleanor and a Starbucks drink. For this, I encountered two hurdles; one being that there was no Starbucks in Huddersfield town centre, and the other being that Eleanor could not attend due to a high temperature, resulting in her not participating as a precautionary measure. To resolve this, I went to the Starbuck on Leeds road first to pick up necessary props. Connor then photographed, whilst I modelled the beverage. Only natural lighting was needed, and the photo was taken outside Huddersfield art gallery.

Big Mac

This photograph was taken in Huddersfield town centre of Friday 15th January 2021 starting at 1pm. Modelling was Connor, eating a Big Mac. The only hurdle I encountered was that McDonalds in Huddersfield town centre was delivery only, but this was easily resolvable as I was stopping off at Leeds road anyway, so the Big Mac could be picked up there. Only natural lighting was needed, though to create shadows, the photograph was taken in a doorway in an alleyway using a woodchip board as a background.
